PERSONALITY 1.8

PERSONALITY 1.8
[STROKING & MOLDING
OF PERSONALITY PATTERNS]

Stroking refers to “recognition of person’s presence by others” Everyone has need for recognition or attention since childhood to adulthood and onward. People should realise one’s presence in society. We always expect in our day to day life that they see us, say something, greet us.

Strokes Are of Three Kinds,
1. Positive
2. Neutral
3. Negative Positive
Positive Stroke Makes Us Happy, Satisfied and Cheerful. Negative Stroke Makes Us Sad…And In Neutral Stroke, We Are Completely Ignored.

a. Further Classification of Positive Strokes

b. Further Classification of Negative Strokes
note:
  • Conditional strokes are used to modify person’s behavior.
  • Parents or teachers use Positive Conditional Strokes when child does something good.
  • We use Negative Conditioning Strokes when performance is not as per the expectations.
  • Research says that the types of strokes we get or gather when they are sufficient enough, the same strokes are given into the environment around us.
  • So, efforts should be made to go for positive strokes so that good relations are maintained.
